Lionel Messi was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina. The head of the family worked in a local metallurgical plant and spent his free time coaching a youth soccer team. The mother of the future sports celebrity worked in the service sector. Four children were raised in their large family.
Messi's future football career was influenced by his grandmother, who took her five-year-old grandson to the amateur club "Grandoli". She believed that the boy had a unique talent and would achieve great success, a belief she shared with the rest of the family.
