"Winning the World Cup was pure magic for us, our families and the whole country. Those emotions will stay with us for a lifetime. I would have definitely left the national team if we had not won the title, but fortunately we did, giving Argentina another triumph," Messi said in the Big Time AS podcast.

Messi captained the Argentina national team at the 2022 World Cup. In the final against France (3-3, 4-2 on penalties), the forward scored twice. Messi was named the tournament's best player.
